RK7

Play at night, in the dark, at full volume, for best effect.

RK7 is the micro ambient & drone soundscape side project of Cincinnati, Ohio electronic artist Nathaniel David Lane, AKA redkattseven. Beginning in late 2020 Lane realized that much of his newer ambient work was of a distinct nature and clearly a different sonic template than his work under the redkattseven moniker. As such, he realized a different moniker might be appropriate if he wished to continue to put out more work of that nature, without subsuming all his prior work.

Beginning with the February 2021 release of the Cincinnatus album, this side project extensively focuses on the space between sound, atonal soundscapes, dark brooding subwoofer tones, crackles in the dark, and the echoes of echoes of echoes. Spring of 2021 saw the release of Ohio Vol. 1-4. Summer and Fall 2021 brought us Kekionga, and Indiana Vol. 1-3, while winter 2021 brought us Checagou Vol. 1-3, all with the same basic sonic template and themes.

The cities and states featured on these RK7 releases have direct ties to Lane's family roots, and as the years progress, he plans to further explore and pay homage to those roots with further releases in the same series of albums. Illinois Vol. 1-3 is set for release in the spring of 2022 with Cahokia and Missouri being featured after that during the summer of 2022.
